The War Memorials in Halcombe

A well-known feature in Halcombe is the War Memorial at the intersection of Stanway Road and Willoughby Street. Once at the heart of the thriving township, the monument now stands almost alone, but still tells a common story of local men going off to war and the sacrifice they made for their country.

A second memorial can be found at Halcombe School on Monteith Street. The Halcombe School Memorial Gates lead into the school grounds and many generations of local children have come & gone from school via this special archway.

Information about the soldiers listed on the memorials can be found at the Auckland Museum's Cenotaph website.

Halcombe students commemorate ANZAC Day each year and learn about the significance of their school's memorial.

The Halcombe Community Group proudly hosts an ANZAC Day Commemoration each year at the Halcombe War Memorial in the village.
