Sports and Physical Education

Students at all levels will take part in a wide range of sport and fitness activities as part of our comprehensive physical education programme. Halcombe School is proud of its sports programme and we consider this to be one of our strengths.

The programme includes athletics, swimming, cross-country, ball skills, te reo kori, skipping, dance, and a winter sports programme – netball, rugby, soccer and gymnastics. Other sports are offered by local coaches when available, including tennis and cricket. See the Information Book for more details and equipment/clothing requirements.

Children will also have the opportunity to be involved in various sports teams in after-school competition. These include Netball, Flippaball, Touch Rugby, ‘Miniball’ (junior basketball) and Basketball. Full information is available at the beginning of each sport’s season. We encourage students to listen carefully to the daily notices that will have  information about meetings and registration for sports teams. Teachers will also remind students about what is going on. Some of this information may not be in the newsletters.
